I have noticed early flower initiation (splitting) on my Early Prestige. visual report on September 12th. Would gibberelic acid help? Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

When were your Early Prestige planted?

Were they rooted or unrooted cuttings? Where did you get your cuttings?

Are these pinched or single stem non-pinched plants?

Here's another post regarding splitting: Single Stem Prestige Red Splitting It gives a good review of why splitting occurs.

It is hard to say what the plants will do know that the split as occurred. Sometimes if the split has occurred because the plant has reached it’s long day leaf count, terminal growth may cease so even if you pinch out the split and try to get the plants to initiate again it may not happen.

Gibberellic acid will not delay initiation. Pinching out the split and lighting to delay initiation would be an option to try and get some height after the split, however Early Prestige initiates around the 15th of September so lighting would have to start immediately.

Again, it is hard to say for sure what will happen now. Please review the post we suggested and let us know if you have any questions.
