When is the best time to pull rings up on poinsettia pots, At spacing or later, if later how much later?

Most growers apply pot rings at pinch or spacing. It is important to place the rings before the shoots put on too much growth otherwise the shoots will have to be manipulated to place the rings and you will risk damaging the plants. Ideally the rings should be placed so that the new shoots don't have to be handled at all.
