We have been trialing the cool grow method this year and i am starting to get a little concerned about the whites and marbles as their colors are becoming more and more yellow as the bracts develop rather then white.

Do i need to increase both the day and night temps in order to get these plants whiter or can i get away with only increasing the day temp and still be able to save a couple of dollars at night? I cannot purchase Fascination in Canada to try out that method. All i can get is Ga3 tablets.

Does the yellowing of the color in the bract and of the foliage have anything to do with slowing down of the nutrients within the plant due to the lower temperatures?

Does any one have pictures of Freedom Marble from this week or last week that they can post so i may compare my colors?

This can be a concern with white's and marbles using the cold grow technique. There haven't really been any studies to determine for sure exactly why it happens but the thought process is that a chemical called Chalcone that is produces in the photosynthic process plays are role. Chalcone has a brown pigmentation and during photosynthesis it breaks down. At the colder temperatures Chalcone doesn't break down completely and contributes to the yellow color showing through. Sometimes the bracts can also have a green tint and this is also because at the colder temps chlorophyll doens't break down completely.

We don't have experince with the GA3 tablets but you could try Promalin which contains the same active ingredients as Fascination and is available in Canada.

Do you have pictures of the yellowing? I was thinking of trying a cold grow for next year but don't want to if yellow bracts are that common.
