Is this a bad plan?
1.Drench my points that have roots to the side with one of the neonicotinoids this early in the crop. 2.Rotate spray (if needed) from several of the other groups of chemical until Early to Mid October. 3. Drench with one of the neonicotinoids Mid October to keep them clean until delivery. |

The best time to knock out any whiteflies is right after the final pinch when the plants have the least amount of foliage for the entire crop. At that point you can get the spray to cover the entire plant and use very little spray volume on the whole crop. Later on as the sidebranches grow and the foliage canopy gets larger and larger the chances of making an efficient application goes down and you end up using a lot more chemicals. In my experience of 33 years growing Poinsettias, if you have any whiteflies on the crop after the middle of September, you need to change your approach to whitefly control....Michael

Following is a fantastic resource for whitefly management: Whitefly Management Program with an Emphasis on the Q-biotype . As the title alludes to the focus is on the management of the Q Biotype however both the B and Q Biotype should be managed the same in the greenhouse. You can also visit Q Biotype Taskforcefor the latest information in whitefly research. Again, management of the Q and B biotype should be exactly same so we think you will find both of these resources to be very informative and helpful when you are developing a program for whiteflies.
