so we had some bad weather we closed off the greenhouses... temps where up, humidity was up, and airflow was down... bad idea no?

so... this week we have lots of botrytis and assorted necrophages munching away in a brown slimy mas on my flowers and a few bracts. the worst affected where advent red, but my question is not so much as to what i should have done (environment is back where it should be)... but what to do chemical-wise to contol spread this late in the season.
decree was reccomended as a low-chance-of-burn spray. and one of the growers wants to do a chipco + subdue drench. is that ok? any other ideas

thx

Hi Gabe - For botrytis on the foliage and bracts you need to apply a foliar spray. Drenches won't give you protection for anything foliar or affecting the cyathia and bracts. Decree is safe and effective, you could also think about Heritage. Environmental controls are the most important - it sounds like you are back on track and know what needs to be corrected to prevent more problems from cropping up.

If root rotting is a concern the Chipco + Subdue would be a good idea for prevention or suppression of any active infections. If the humidity was up and airflow reduced chances are the plants did sit wet longer than normal which increases the chances of pythium setting and a drench also certainly couldn't hurt, but the foliar sprays are definitely required for any suppression of botrytis. Hope this helps.....

I've been experimenting with foliar sprays of Compass @ 1/8 teaspoon per 32oz spray bottle on my reject plants and haven't noticed any bract burn or spotting.
