There is significant disscussion about Low dose drench rates. I have not seen recomendations on volume for container size. Does anyone have recomendations on volume in regard to container size and does the amount of plants in the container have tome considered.We do container sizes 4.5" 5", 6.5" 7.5", 8.5" and 10"

Roger, If you are using any of the chemicals from the "Paclo" family most of the manufacturers are recommending early drench rates in the booklet that comes on the chemical container. You have read correctly that the volume of drench applied to each container is just as important as the strenght of the mixture. This is not the same situation as with fungicide drenches where you can slosh any excess amount into the containers and be safe with the results....Michael Pawelek

Greetings: I've use an A-Rest Drench on my Poinsettia crop for 15 years. Here in the Atlanta area I'm drenching my crop today 9/25/06, that I planted from rooted cuttings from Ecke on 8/24/06. I use a 5 gallon bucket with one ounce A-Rest per gallon. An 8" pot/2 plants gets 4 oz. A 10" pot with 3 plants get 8 oz. and a 14" pot with 8 plants gets 16 oz. In a week-10 days I'll repeat this drench again on the varieties Prestige, Freedom, Visions of Grandeur, Jingle Bells, Plum Pudding and Snowcap. The less vigerous varieties like Red Splendor and the Winter Rose family only get one drench. This makes for a short finished product that I refer to as "Center Piece" Poinsettias. It sets them apart from the taller varieties seen at Walmart and grocery stores. You have to know your target audience for height. Many florist want a taller plant. Hope this helps. Douglas
