I am going to ship a load of prefinished poinsettias next week on a reefer semi trailer. We will be warm, they will need to stay in the trailer for as long as 48 hours. What is the best temp to keep them at in the trailer to avoid stretch and also damage from keeping too cool?

Thanks

Hi Greenthumb-

You want to ship prefinished poinsettias just as you would a finished crop. Optimum temperatures for shipping are 50-55F (10-13C). Poinsettias will suffer chilling injury below 50F (10C). Temperatures above 65F (18C) will result in epinasty on those cultivars that are susceptible.
