Is there a listing of chemicals safe to use on developing poinsettia bracts?

Hi Deke -
If you consult our Poinsettia Federal Insect Control Chart (260K PDF) you will see that in the comments column we have made notation if certain chemicals may be phytotoxic to the bracts. Chemicals that we have used on developing and mature bracts that we haven't seen damage from include Tristar, Talstar, and Avid. We also suggest you refer to "Management Program for Whiteflies on Propagated Ornamentals with an Emphasis on the Q-biotype" for recommended chemicals at all stages of the crop including applications to plants that are ready for sale. The report and research involved in creating the report highlight the Q Biotype Whitefly but it is an excellent resource for information about managing both the B and Q Biotypes as your management strategies should be the same for both. Please let us know if you have further questions. Thanks! Thank you for using Ecke Ranch Tech Help on-line! |
