Are they all like that or just some? Also, are the tips broken out or is it that the lower laterals have started growing, but tip is still there? The picture is a little out of focus with the close-up so is difficult to tell. Thanks. Jim

The plants with laterals already growing can produce normal finished plants, but it is probably best to handle them differently from cuttings that are not already branching. Sort the cuttings and avoid mixing them in same container. Then keep the pots separated. The plants already branching will be more uneven in growth after pinching. For the plants already branching you want to prevent those laterals from growing long and thin early. So pinch as scheduled or earlier if they are developed enough. You will probably apply more PGRs to these pots. If you are familiar with using Florel at pinch do that (300 to 500 ppm applied twice at 5-7 days before and after pinch.) An option is one or more light B-Nine/ Cycocel sprays at about 1,000 each which could be applied before and after pinch to keep these laterals from elongating too much. At 2-4 weeks after pinching you may see a lot of variability in the size of the plants – if uniformity is an important issue for your crop and if you want to go to this effort, you can use a hand sprayer to go through and hit just the tops of the largest plants with B-Nine/Cycocel. Another thing… Some cuttings will have a single strong lateral growing much more than other laterals. I sometimes pinch those laterals also when the plants are pinched. Others may have ideas on how they handle this problem. Good luck with the crop. Jim

Over the years I have had rooted liners show up with laterals that were already 1/2" long and learned to start the PGR program on them right away even before pinch or they will end up ahead of the rest of the crop with weak joints where they connect to the main stem. In my case a early low dose drench of Bonzi was in order.
Come up with a plan of action right now and don't wait and be sorry later on in the crop! Smile
