I'm looking forward to next year already, and I am looking for a good variety to use in my 8/10 inch pots that will size up well. This year I used Mars pink and mars white, but they didn't size up as much as I would've liked. Two years ago I used snowcap and v17 pink, but so vigorous, constantly had to spray them. Any varietal recommendations? What Ecke variety would be suggested at least?

We were very pleased with Polly's Pink and and Enduring White this year. It was our first year to grow either of them I was concerned earlier that Enduring White was not very vigorous but it seemed to gradually catch up and finished very nice. We were really hot this fall and that may of had some to do with their growth habits. Polly's Pink seemed to get better the longer it was in the house. At the end of November I didn't like it's color but by last week it looked great! Polly's Pink was a very strong plant with large bracts for us. I will try and get some pictures up this week.

We also grew a few Visions of Grandeur this year. It is kinda pink kinda white. They were a big attraction at our greenhouse! I would highly reccomend them for specialty markets and florist markets etc... two reasons.
One, to pay for the cuttings you will have to charge more. and two, because they will!

In 2008 we will be offering the Classic Family, which is a great new family of colors with "big" potential! Classic is a mid season family and includes red, white, pink, and marble. This family offers robust size and great stem strength for use in larger container sizes and trees. But unlike Snowcap and V-17 it responds very well to growth regulating so Classic can also be grown successfully in smaller container sizes as well. Classic has a traditional poinsettia look with bract shape, position, and size but all the great attributes of modern poinsettia breeding, especially stronger stem and better shelf life.

If you grew the 2007 trial collection Classic was the numbered variety 1090 so maybe you already have experience with it. If not, we would encourage you to trial the family in 2008 because we feel it has great potential in the mid season market.

How 'bout some pictures? Is it less upright than Prestige? (I need a point that drapes over the pot a bit -- maybe not quite as much as Freedom, tho!)
