Does anybody use Pot. Nitrate fertilizer to finish their point crop... if so how are the results and @ what rate?

Tom, I use Potassium Nitrate (13-0-44) but blend it with Ammonium Nitrate to balance out the nitrogen/potassium ratio. I see what you are trying to do by dropping any ammonium type nitrogen but by itself Potassium Nitrate has 3 times the potassium to 1 Nitrate so for every 100ppm of nitrogen you feed you would also be feeding 300ppm potassium which is a considerable amount.....Michael Pawelek

Thanks for the response, you points look great!! Since it is about time to start really reducing the feed levels for myself, I could probably get away with (K)@150ppm & (N)@54ppm.. and take my SS levels from there.. what do ya think? I know with my garden mums this year the Pot.Nit. made the plants hard as a rock with hardly any breakage. But what's the effect on Points?

Tom, Since Potassium Nitrate is commonly used in many water soluble fertilizers I see no reason it could not be used as long as you keep your S.S. down and are pretty sure all the other elements necessary to finish the crop are in the soil in adequate amounts. Also keep in mind that KNO3 is a "basic" fertilizer so if your soil pH is already high it might exascerbate the situation and tie up some of the trace elements in the mix.
