I'm looking to make an early drench of bonzi on my 4in poinsettias. They're were planted this week. Any reccomendations on how soon I can apply it and at what rate? Also, how long should I wait for the first drench application on the 6in, 8in, 10, and 12in?
-Thanks |

My general suggestion is to apply the drench at the same time as you normally do the first spray for all of the sizes. In some cases with strong growing varieties that you have problems controlling and if they get off to a strong start you may drench at 2-3 weeks after pinch. If you feel like you want even more early size control and are comfortable with it, you could drench 3-5 days before pinching, but that would be only for really strong growing varieties like Snowcap or Monet. Rate for Bonzi would be 0.1 ppm. For Topflor the rate would be 0.04 to 0.05 ppm. Topflor works well as a drench on poinsettias and the rate is generally half the Bonzi rate, but we have less experience with it as a poinsettia drench in the Midwest. Jim
