I have some spots on the bracts of a few Prestige and a few Cranberry Punch. They are fairly circular and white in color. They do not look like pictures of powdery mildew. They are almost like litte bleached areas. I do not see clear evidence of fungal growth on the top or bottom of the leaf, just a faded spot.

I had been pushing my poinsettias with 63-68 degree nights and days at 68-75. I read that powdery mildew is favored by large differences in night and day temps.

Any ideas if this is definitely powdery mildew? or is it some other physiological disorder or disease?

Bob - Pictures really would help. When you describe small circular white spots it sure makes us think of powdery mildew. The early stages of powdery mildew can look like pesticide residue. Powdery mildew can be a problem when there is a large fluctuation between day and night temps but high relative humidity and reduce airflow can also create a situation where the disease can develop.

Have you made any fungicide applications recently?

Hi Bob - In the top left of the forum under the "new" folder where you creat a new post you can also create a new photo album. You will be prompted first to name the album than browse your files and attach images. If you have trouble you can also email the images to rsiemonsma@eckeranch.com and we will post the images for you. Thanks!

Does anyone have some pics of Powdery mildew? Particularly in it's early stages?

And Ecke if I suspect some P-M what would be a good spray at this point?

TNT - There are quite a few safe choices for powdery mildew. A couple of suggestions would be Decree or Heritage. The only caution would be that you can't use a silicone based spreader sticker with Heritage to reduce the incidence of spotting. You can use a spreader sticker with Decree and it is effective for powdery mildew control.
