After points have finished coloring up is it safe to drop the temps to say 55 to save on fuel?

The key for us has always been keeping the night temps above the point where condensation occurs. Botrytis can be a huge problem if you have any free moisture on the plants.
I never go below 60. YMMV. Randy |

I have safely lowered temps to 50 without any problems as long as there is good air circulation and water early in the morning only when dry.

We consider 55F to be holding temperatures when the plants are ready for sale. Some growers safely hold the plants at colder temperatures (50F). Poinsettias can suffer chilling injury below 50F so be careful not to go too low. The key is to manage relative humidity to reduce the incidence of botrytis or powdery mildew. The plants will also be using significantly less water at the reduced temperatures - careful moisture management is a must!
