How many plants per pot do most growers use?
I have 10" pots and last year I did 3 plants with one pinch. (The Ecke Poinsettia book if I remember correctly says 5 plants.) What would be a good height for a 10" pot? |

We put 4 per 10 inch on our prestige red and 3 per 10 inch on snowcap and monet.

Hi Hobbygrower -
For 10" pinched production we usually recommend using 3-4 plants per pot. For single stem production (non-pinched) you could use up to 10 plants per pot. A rule we try to follow for finished height would be to aim for a height that is 2.5 times the diameter of the pot....so a good target height for 10" production would be 25 inches. This is only our specifications we have used in our own finished program. Individual markets and customers may require more or less height. For example, independent garden center, florist, and churches usually like plants with more height while plants that need to be shipped withstand the rigors of shipping if they are shorter.
