We direct stick our cuttings, so fungus gnats can really become a problem. What is the best control for adults? It seems like nothing will kill them. They are not too bad in the geraniums now, but there is a good population in the cuttings right beside them. I sprayed Astro 6oz/100 when I started seeing a few adults, but I think it made them multiply! About 5 days later I sprayed Attain (Talstar)/Conserve combo, which had a good knockdown, but there are still some flying around. I read somewhere that too many pesticide applications on cuttings can negatively affect rooting.
Also, I drenched Citation for the larvae...are there any other good drenches?
Thanks,
Erin

Hi Erin - Yes, too many pesticide applications can somemtimes slow rooting but you still need to get the fungus gnats under control because where there are adults there will obviously be larva which can cause some real damage. Many growers have had succes with DuraGuard. It can be apply as a spray or a drench and is safe to apply in propagation.
