What is the best control for rhizoctonia on impatiens? Our plants are melting away in groups and it's spreading quickly.
Thanks!

Chemicals containing thiophanate-methyl such as Cleary's 3336, Fungo Flo, or OHP 6672 are effective. Pordenone or Chipco is also a good choice. Triflumizole or Terrguard is also effective.

Rhizoctonia is most often associated with soil particles that are blown in or spread by splashing water. Overhead irrigation or baskets hanging overhead may be a concern. If you are seeing the disease in small pockets in the greenhouse it may be a good idea to dispose of suspect plants or at least isolate these plants to prevent further spread. Repeated applications of a rotation of chemicals may be necessary to suppress the pathogen. Please consult labels for application rates and warnings as many chemicals are only labeled as a spray on impatiens and at reduced rates to avoid injury.
