We suggest a tank mix of Talstar/Avid, Sanmite, or Tetrasan 5. There are few chemicals specifically labeled for the control of Broadmites. Broadmites can be difficult to control and several chemical applications at weekly intervals are often necessary. Removal of any plants showing symptoms is also necessary, especially if only a few plants are affected as this is the best way to control the outbreak. Preventative insecticide treatments should still be applied to the rest of the crop though. Broadmites prefer cool, moist conditions and they lay eggs on the underside of the leaves or dark, moist places on the plants. Once you have removed affected plants, making sure that there is adequate spacing around the rest of the crop to ensure good airflow and reduced moisture availability and reduced relative humidity will also help suppress the mites.
